If he's got a woodpecker on his head, it's likely that the bird will do the impaling not the tusk.

I am offended, madam!

I did not mean to imply that you were wooden-headed! :bigsmile100:

But dude, you've got a pileated woodpecker on your head! They're big suckers, about 18 inches long (45 cm), and I don't know what he's doing on your head if he didn't come there to drill. When I was helping with bird banders, they told me to be careful about taking woodpeckers out of the mist nets because sometimes they drill on your hand.

Here's a picture of a bander holding a pileated woodpecker, from http://www.tonyqandsuzanne.com/Songbird%20Banding.html Not sure if the bird is trying to bite their hand or drill a hole in it.

What happened next was not pretty....

I'm sorry, I had to do it. With Bob's permission, the combination of B's picture and mine could count as a contest entry. It does tell a scary story about birds.

Here's another version that's less graphic and more insulting. No blood, just a neatly drilled hole with sawdust flying. I also un-clipped the woodpecker. Half his primary feathers didn't make the move in the previous version.

Speaking of graphic, I just remembered one of my old ones that fits the horror theme:
