The theme is Fantasy Birds. Your bird as a fantasy character or in a fantasy situation. Up to five entries per person.

The quick selection tool is a HUGE help with selecting areas that you want to cut out. The magic wand can also be very useful when you've got a lot to select (or deselect) that's all pretty much the same color.

Do you know any free programmes that are similar to photoshop just for cutting out and things? I'm lacking in cash at the moment and I no longer have CS4 since my old laptop broke

Here's a website listing 12 free alternatives to Photoshop: http://beebom.com/best-free-photoshop-alternatives/

I tried Gimp once and it drove me crazy, because I was used to Photoshop and Gimp is significantly different (or at least it was at that time). But it seems to be the program that everybody recommends as the best alternative to Photoshop. If you're willing to work through the learning curve, it will probably serve you well.

The bird temporarily known as Ernie has his permanent name now! And some LOTR-themed artwork to go with it.
