They say that the stuff Elements won't do are things that only professionals would need. I've got an older version of the program (Elements 8) and I'm basically happy with it. One of these years I'll upgrade to a newer version and be able to do even more.
There's some freeware out there that's supposed to be good. I tried Gimp once after I got a new computer and my old version of Photoshop Elements wouldn't run on it. But Gimp drove me nuts because it was too different from Photoshop. So I bought the newest edition of Photoshop Elements instead. That was several years ago and that's the version I'm still using.
