Our little girl accidentally stop back on our budgie
Frankie. This was Tuesday morning. He floor and hopped around the room for a few seconds, I picked him up gently, his little heart was beating so very fast. I put him in his cage to keep him warm. We left him alone but I checked on him almost every 5 mins..
Yesterday he ate, he's been moving around, he's been quiet, he's sitting on his perch with his head bend forward. I'm pretty worried about him. Don't know if a vet visit is needed. Any suggestions please?

A vet visit would be very desirable, especially if you have access to a good avian veterinarian - a lot of dog and cat vets can't do much for birds. It's a good sign that he's still alive, but he may have some kind of internal injury. You mentioned that he ate - does he seem to be eating a normal amount of food, and is he pooping OK? Does he seem able to move all his body parts normally?

When a bird is in physical distress, keeping it warm and quiet can be helpful. It'll be good if you can put a heating pad under half the cage, or cover one end with a towel and shine a lamp on it at a distance where the heat passes into the cage but doesn't set fire to the towel. The reason for heating only half the cage is so he can move to the cool end if he gets too warm.

Thnk you for your help. I'm taking him to te vet this afternoon. It's heartbreaking seeing him slumped over. I ate only a little earlier today. I placed him on the carpet earlier and he half walked half flew and seemed off balance. I'll see what the vet sais..

We went to the vet earlier, he checked his wings and his little feet, the left side when gripped the vets finger was weaker than the right. The vet recon she has a soft tissue injury in his little leg. No pain meds for
now but rest and I'm monitoring his eating etc till Saturday when I have to call the vet to report back. He's still eating and has been active. He's probably bruised and sore..

If it's just a bruise that's very good news! A bruise will heal. Even if it turns out to be a more serious leg injury, there are ways to deal with that. I was worried that it might be something much worse, an untreatable internal injury. Now that you've seen the vet you can relax and not worry so much.

It so easy to step on our birds if the land behind
us and we are not aware... I'm so pleased your bird is eating, sound like you have all had a huge shock.. fingers crossed all will be well.
