So here's another question: even with the neck scritches today and get almost coming out of her cage (she sat on the door of her cage for like an hour) when I went to cover her she did a bat bird (hanging upside down with wings spread) and started hissing at me again. Her crest stayed relaxed, but she was definitely hissing. I know the previous owners covered her. I'm covering her with the same cover they used... Should I stop covering her? Or maybe cover her less? Right now I leave a little hole for light to get in and for her to peak through but should I leave one whole side uncovered? And if that's the case, how do I so her from getting hormonal as the spring and summer come since I won't be able to control the amount of light she's getting?
Thanks for the compliments btw :) she is gorgeous. Is she pied? She has a spot over one of her eyes lol, it looks like she's raising her eyebrow :)

Yes, she's a lovely pied. I don't think you're doing anything wrong here, it's just that sometimes she's more relaxed than others. So follow her lead; give her love when she wants it and space when that's what she wants. The fact that she let you give her scritchies today indicates that she'll come around pretty fast, and all you have to do is not upset her by pushing her to do things that she isn't ready for yet.

I vote to cover her at night. That's what she's used to and she'll be less likely to have night frights if she has what she's used to. There will be some unfamiliar sounds in a new home though, so a night light may be helpful too.

Thanks! I'm wondering if maybe it's something about the cover as she hissed this morning when I took it off...
She came out and played this morning and she's adorable :) she also started playing with her toys today

It's possible that the way you put the cover on and take it off is different than the way the previous owner did it. Just stay relaxed and she'll get used to it soon! It sounds like it's going great and progressing fast overall, and she's going to be very happy with her new flock.
