Hello
:thanks: for all the information...all our birds seem happy at present!
How do I get them to leave their cages! How do I get them hand tamed.
Is it a long process!

any advice would be most gratefully received

hello!

What kind of birds have you got?
How old are they?
Have you already tried something?

- - - -

In general I would say if your birds are new, don't get near the cage with your hadns (other than providing water and food) for the first couple of days. Sit near it and read out loud from a book, or sing. Use your voice so your birds get used to that.

After a couple of days you could put your hand on the bottom of the cage and leave it there, as still as you can, for about 10 to 15 minutes a day. (more is good, or repeated sessions if possible is also good)
Keep talking in a calm voice to your birds.

During all this time try to figure out what kind of treat they like, normally millet is good for this.

When you are confident that your birds are no longer fearfull of your hand try putting it closer and closer to the birds but keep your hand still. Provide the treat (after you established what they like) only when your hand is in the cage. They should have learnt they like that type of food and should go eat it if they are no longer fearfull of your hand.

After that try luring them on your hand with the treat. From there you can work your way up and get your birds to step up on command before you give them a treat.

If you want to see how it's done it's a good Idea to look for help on youtube.

Hope I helped out a little
