I just found your site and hope it will be a fun a informative experience. Hubby and I got Rufus when he was 5 months old. He is a beautiful little budgie (blue, green, yellow). He started approaching my finger after his first month with us and progressed to walking on it to get to the other side of the perch but not staying on it. Then we had to go out of town for a week leaving him with a friend in his own cage with his familiar toys. When we got him home (1 week now) he runs to the back of his cage when I put my hand in and tries to make it to his swing which is at the far end of the cage & difficult to reach. I don't know what happened during the week as our friend states he followed all my instructions. Is there anything I can do to regain his trust? I thought we were doing so well. Other than than that he chirps a lot, makes lots of happy noises, plays with his toys and seems like a happy little birdie. Any advice? Much appreciated and thanks. Rufus' mommy

Welcome to the group! I suggest using some food bribery on your little guy to help change his attitude toward hands. There's an article about it here: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... ibery.html It won't take long for you to figure out which stage he's ready for. It might take some time for him to gain confidence, but this will help you make progress.

Welcome to the forum.... sounds like your friend did something to upset your budgie.... You'll have to earn his trust again.... patience, and start from scratch with his training.... He'll soon learn to trust you again... Good luck

Welcome to the forum!
My suggestion is to just try and start from the beginning again. Feed him treats from your hand etc., eventually you'll work your way back up.
