Today my ringneck got hurt, he chew off a bit of the cloth covering the cage and got his feet stuck... stupid bird... nearly colapsed again watching another baby covered in blood... had to ask for my neighbour's help to take the string around his foot and he lost a nail. desinfected the wound... hope it's enough :( or I need to get him to a vet when it opens after the weekend.
He's inside my office now, sleeping. I need to get my birds a psycologist!
The other birds aint at risk, they're not as stupid. But i need to remove the cloth and think of another solution to cover them at night cause of the winter cold.
Sigh

I'm having a hard time thinking of a solution. If the cage isn't too big, you might be able to cover it with an upside-down cardboard box instead of a cloth. If you have a box that's big enough to cover the top of the cage but doesn't cover the sides, you could put this box on the cage top at night and then drape the cloth over it. The box should keep the cloth far enough away from the cage bars that the birds can't reach it.

Hmm... I guess a thick bed sheet over it would do the trick. Gonna try and sort it out.
But gonna keep him inside for a couple of weeks until he has healed.

Thanks

I don't know what kind of cloth you used before, but maybe a sheet would be harder for them to unravel. If you're careful when you cover the cage, you might be able to minimize the birds' access to the cloth.
