Please no making fun! I held back from posting this for that reason.

It was pipping and it cracked a little too early and the parents made it worse! What should I do? The face is swollen! The chick is alive and constantly chirping. I feel so bad

Again, please NO hurting feelings! I tried calling Sussane and she thought I was prank calling her

She gave me her number..

I don't know why anyone would make fun of you! I would put the egg under a heat lamp, and let it hatch like that. Again, so sorry people are making fun of you. If that happened to me, i would want good advice, not unbelief. Hope that helped!

Good luck!

I called Sussane again and she said that in out last call, she couldn't hear me well. We are on the phone for 10 mins and she really helped me! I got the incubator out. I moistened the membrane and got his nostrils free.

Susanne is the best person in the world to help you. Last time I heard you weren't on Facebook so you can't post on her forum. But she's a member of this forum and we're buds, so if you need to show her pictures or anything you can post them here for her to look at.

How is the situation now? I have zero experience with assist hatching but I can try to interpret Susanne's article if necessary.

It's going well. I deactivated my Facebook account because my step uncle made fun of me because of my postings. I reactivated because I was too worried but I didn't post anything.

Sussane probably thought I was a prank caller because of my young voice. I bet she didn't expect a 15 year old to call her at night.

Well I hope everything continues to go well. Let us know when the baby has safely hatched!

As for your Facebook account, you might want to set it so only your friends can see your posts and then unfriend your whole family lol. They're a hard audience to work with.

Okay, a quick question, what happens when the chick is red? Do you think I should feel him coconut water?

Has the baby hatched out completely? I don't know whether it's advisable to feed them anything while they're still in the shell.

Red skin is a sign of dehydration, although it's possible there are other things that could cause red skin. But it probably is dehydration due to the difficult hatch. It might be several hours still before the parents start feeding the chick, so it would probably be helpful if you could feed him a little coconut water or other fluids. But handfeeding a tiny newborn is delicate work and it's easy to aspirate them. If you think you have the skills you can give him a little fluid, but if you don't have the skills it's better to let the parents handle it.

The exception is if the baby is too weak to beg the parents for food. In that case you have to feed it so it will get strong enough to beg.

The chick is in my house with me. I'm about to post an update photo.
I called her again last night with that question and she said to dip the Qtip in coconut water, and to let the baby use it's young to drink it. She said any other way she tried to feed it, the baby aspirated
