When I checked on the birds this morning, I found Maya standing on the floor. She wasn't laying down. She was just standing on it. She wasn't walking. I went in the aviary and put my hand out (keep in mind Maya is scared of me) and she stepped up. When I brought her up, she was supposed to fly to a perch in panic but instead she was staying on my hand and preening. I checked her feet because she was walking very slow. I put her on a perch and she was moving very slow. When I offered my hand, she stepped up. She has a bump but I don't know where that place is called. It's like this but smaller

I don't see anything wrong with the underside. Should I bring her inside? She does the mating position but no bird ever mated with her.

Oh, I don't know. I'm sorry you are worried and hope she is okay.

It sounds like she might be getting ready to lay an egg, even though no one has mated with her. Keep an eye on her to make sure she's OK.

I was going to say, that looks like egg bum to me. Make sure she has access to some calcium in case she is going to lay.

Thank you guys. I'm not as worried because I now know it's an egg. I thought her leg was broken and she was not going to be able to walk again. I'll keep you guys posted on how she is. Should I bring her inside so she can sit on her future eggs? I don't want her to keep replacing eggs. I don't think she will lay it from a perch. That's probably why she was on the floor.

You could bring her inside or leave her where she is, depending on where you think she'll be more comfortable. If you bring her indoors you can use hormone control techniques on her to try and get her out of breeding mode faster. You could provide an open box or basket with some bedding in it so she'll have a place to lay the eggs, but it's better to not provide an actual enclosed nestbox.

Levi is with Maple not Maya, right? Does Maya have a boyfriend at all?

Thank you. I'll leave her in the aviary for now. Maya is single. She wants a boyfriend but they couldn't care less.

If they see that she has eggs they might get more interested. I'm not saying that you should let them get close to the nest, because she might attack them if they did that. But let them see that she has breeding capability and they might think she's more attractive later on.

Nice thought! I'm going to add a bowl with pine shavings tomorrow. Maya is much more active and is scared of me again. Yay!

Did Maya ever end up laying an egg?
