I have a sweet little 6 year old Scottie mix. This morning I noticed he was having trouble walking. I had to carry him in from the snow in the back yard. He is my dearest pet. He was chewing at his front paw and when I checked, I could see his dew claw was too long. His claws are pure black and I HATE cutting them. But I did. Then I thought I'd better do the other one and that's when I hurt him. He didn't bleed but he is a very sensitive little guy. He is laying in his bed and it is killing me to look at his big sad brown eyes every time I check on him.

I've clipped bird nails before, so I pretty much can size up where the quick is. I don't really like dogs, so oh boy, I wouldn't even know where to start a clip there. I am not around them much to even get an idea. But, dark nails certainly are harder. I've never had to do Jaid's or the budgies, who's nails are light, just Beaker's, who's are dark.
