I think it's well worth it.
my daughter thought her hair is too thick. While most people think that having decent amount of hair is good, she found it unattractive. So she cut some hair at the top of her head and shaved underneath (with the razor that she is not supposed to touch). I understand when children try to cut the length, but she was fighting the volume. She didn't realize that hair would grow and parents won't allow her to use razor again. She looked like an idiot for a couple of months saying that she did it to look like a cockatiel so that our babies would like her a little more.
