Its not hot in my house but when i wrap my hand around his body (to snuggle) it feels like my hand is burning on fire. Im worried. I gave him a foot massage today and his feet felt normal but his back is hot when I touch it for a few seconds. I just gave him a rinse to cool him off and he is preening his wet feathers now. He isn't showing any other signs of sickness. Should I be worried?

Birds normally have a higher body temperature than we do - the estimates range from 102 to 106. If he's acting normal it's a good sign that he's OK. A bird that's overheated will hold its wings away from the body and pant to release heat.

Any animal (or human) is going to be adapted to the temperature of their natural environment. Birds wouldn't necessarily be any better at tolerating the temperature than another animal that lives in the same habitat. But a bird that comes from a hot habitat will probably tolerate heat better than a bird (or other animal) that comes from a cooler habitat.

If he would be hot he would spread his wings. Also he might open his beak and get his tongue out a bit

I still think it means contentment. When I snuggled baby Jaid, he was on fire, but wasn't panting or venting.

I think you're right. He wasn't so playful with me as yesterday. He wanted to play on the top of his cage.
