Well, even Chickens need some exercise.

And yes, chickens don't really fly that well. It's more commonly done on waterfowl, such as ducks, since they're quite capable of flying (some species do migrate, after all).

The local zoo in my area has a really large walk-in aviary for a few of it's bird species, and smaller aviaries for individuals. The only free range birds that actually belong to the zoo are peafowl (peacocks and peahens), though I don't think they fly much better than chickens. Upwards, that is. They glide really well.

Very well written article...
I've not heard of this at all, I don't like what it does to the chickens..

It doesn't usually happen to chickens, since flying isn't much of their strong point. The chicken in the picture was one being feather clipped, as we do to our parrots.

Though I guess I should've really worded some of the paragraphs a little better. :oopssign: Well, I've revised some of it. Just one section. I've also added a section, right under the one I reworded it, so they shouldn't be that hard to find (especially since I added another picture under the new section).

I will revise it more when I have more information. Thank you for your comments, guys! :)

Even my young daughter hates zoos and refuses to visit them.
Pinioning is disgusting.
