He has an infection and its not healing. He said not to give him showers. He said he would probably need Antibiotics but he said to start with a cream first and I didn't bring enough money for the cream I was expecting that he was getting the Antibiotics. My mam said to try Manuka honey or the Aloe Vera what do you guys think.Or anything else that might help it heal. The vet also got my website name and a picture of Rocko for their website. He also said most birds that see him are untamed and there were two budgies there after me.

Also somebody on Talk cockatiels said he could die if the infection spreads.

Yes, infections are dangerous. But a cream only treats the surface of the skin so the vet must not think that the infection has spread into the interior of the body. If you can't afford the prescription cream, I would use Neosporin on it or some other type of antiseptic cream. That might be more reliable than Manuka honey which is also expensive and is frequently counterfeit. The amount of honey being sold as Manuka is about 6 times as much as the amount of Manuka that's actually produced, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81nu ... d_problems

Neosporin has antibiotics in it, but they're obviously not as powerful as the antibiotics in a prescription cream and that's why you can get it without a prescription.

What was the name of the prescription cream? We can try to look it up so see what's in it.

Honey is sticky and I don't know how well a bird would respond to having sticky stuff on its skin. With humans we understand why it's there but a bird obviously doesn't and might pick at it.

Whatever you use, only use a tiny amount. It's very easy for this stuff to get rubbed off on the feathers, and gunked-up feathers lose their insulating qualities.

Is the Neosporin ok to use.

Neosprin should probably work.

Do you have triple antibiotic ointment? I wonder if that would be too strong, or not.
