How do I start? Everything was perfectly fine last night. I laid down to sleep and I opened my birds cage and snuggled together like we always do. I fall asleep and wake up around 2 in the morning and see my bird flying to the bathroom very awkwardly. I quickly get up and sit in the bathroom floor with him. He is panting and can't walk without losing balance. He almost died in the hands but I stopped him and brought him to my bed. He started throwing up a lot. The only evidence I see is some lost feathers on the bed from last night so I'm guessing I might have crushed him. He has no balance in his feet but he has to injury. The only thing I see is that his head feathers were messed up. I'm going to take him to a vet tomorrow. I'm so scared. I put him in his hut so he can sleep for the rest of the night. Please give advice.

Oh no! :( I hope everything will be ok.

Just try and keep him relaxed tomorrow, if he makes it through the night. I wish I could give any more advice, but I don't really know much about this kind of situation.

Is there a 24 hour emergency vet near you? You might need to take him at some point before your appointment tomorrow. Tonight even, if it's possible.

Thank you Jasmine.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!!!

I slept in a different room last night (throw up and poop on my bed sheets) and woke up to check on Rio. Before I entered my room I was so scared because I didn't want to see him die. Well, I go it and not only is he not dead, but he was also on a toy, which means not only that he isn't dead and still has an interest for toys but HE CAN USE HIS BOTH FEET!!! I put my finger for him to step up and he did it very well. He didn't fall or lose balance. I tried to give him food and he rejected it so I put him next to his water dish and HE DRANK WATER!!!!

Things that I'm still concerned with: He's very light, fluffed up always, feathers are paper thin and feel a weird texture, super tired. Most of those symptoms can be from the vomiting from last night.

He is still vomiting. He keeps drinking water than throwing it up. What can I do?

It is possible for birds to appear healthy when they're not, because they can hide their illnesses really well. If there is an emergency vet, take him asap. If not, then I would have to wait for the appointment.

I do hope that this is a sign that he is getting better, though. Please keep us posted.

If you can, give him water in small, small sips to try and keep him hydrated. I say small sips, to try and prevent vomitting.

I'm taking him to a 24 hour vet. He is not doing well. I'm going to take him in an hour or two. Wish him luck.

I took Rio out of his cage to lay down next to me and I accidentally fell asleep.

It's an accident, so don't feel bad for it. All we can do is learn from our mistakes.

I hope he's okay, the good thing is that there are well prepared avian vets here in America and you can take him in with confidence.
