Plus, have you SEEN how much the topic of conversation changes in some of these threads? It can be pretty out there sometimes.

That's the advantage and disadvantage of a small group. It's more like a real-world conversation than a "have to stay on topic" discussion, where talking about something else might make someone who's more of a stranger get mad or might interfere with them getting the advice they need. We all know each other pretty well and everybody who's going to say something usually chimes in pretty early, so we don't feel like we're ruining somebody else's thread by changing the subject. We know they'll bring the conversation back on topic if they still need more information.

That was actually a mistake on my part. My usual excuse: I was very tired.

In other bird forums, health and nutrition often fall in the same category, so I forget there's a separate category for nutrition here.

We're not fussy here lol. If it was a bigger group then posting in the wrong subforum might raise the risk of not getting an answer, since some people only look at their specialty areas not all the subforums. But this group is small enough that you'll get an answer no matter where you post. I would have moved it if it was dramatically out of place, like say in the photo contest subforum. But this one is close enough.

Here's me to mix it up a little more!
All my birds are feed the same...

Cockatiel mixed seed....
Budgie seed
Parrotlet seed
Parrot seed and fruit mix...
finch seed....
I also buy nuts walnuts, hazel, peanuts. brazil, almond...
I chop up everything... mix together...
Dried fruits as they eat that better than fresh...
That's just the seeds... also veggies/fruit/pulses/
Oh and there favourite toast....
Lots of other foods also....
What do other members feed their birds on?

Well, it IS food related.

Seeds and pellets for the tiels, but they also get vegetables daily. Though it varies, it's usually along the lines of two different kinds of lettuces, broccoli and carrot pieces. They especially love the broccoli, since they love making a mess with it.
But Dudley has this seed mix that also has nuts, (organic) banana chips, and some pellet looking stuff. I also give him vegetables.

Joey and the finches however, mainly eat a finch seed mix. I emailed Lafeber asking for free samples of their finch pellets. They look very close to seed, so I'm wondering if I can get them to eat it, and maybe that could help with the mess somewhat. I want to give them veggies too, but they don't quite recognize it as food. I would have to cut it up a certain way, to hopefully get them into eating it.
