I don't know. I'm seeing pictures of 4 week old lovebirds, and their much more feathered then my baby. Any reason? Normal babies are almost fully feathered but my baby looks about 2-3 weeks old.

Feeding and crop digestion is 100% normal. It's working very well. I'm starting to see new feathers coming out but I'm still worried because it's not the normal amount for his age.

Advice to calm me down?

Here's a picture collage showing the growth of lovebirds. http://www.flyinggems.com/Lovebirds/dev ... alovie.htm

My baby is 4 weeks old. He looks exactly like the 3 week old picture. Is he stunted?

It's possible. He's moved to a new home and I don't know how many changes he went through before that. If he had any clutchmates he was separated from them too. Changes are stressful. But don't worry about it if he's happy and thriving now, because he'll catch up.

Another possibility is that the breeder made a mistake about the hatch date and he's younger than you think.

The breeder actually DID make a mistake before that. He said he was 1 week old when he was really 3 weeks old.

I made a mistake!! I thought his birthday was August 8, but it's actually August 12. That means he is 3 weeks old which proves he's right on track in development.

I feel so much better now.

again, what was the necessity to pull such a young baby from the nest?
There is plenty of grown birds who need a home and would make a great pet if a bird was needed immediately.
They shouldn't be toys in our arms.
I remember how long Mel waited for her bird to be ready to come home.

B is an experienced handfeeder and can take good care of the chick.
