Today I saw that she somehow damaged her nail and her toe was bleeding. She either got tangled on something or it was a result of a fight with another bird. I just heard a lot of noise from that corner. They were out of cage, and the problem is that she is not tame at all and all other birds behaved like crazy (suddenly taking off and flying very fast).
I thought I would be able to grab her when she was sitting quietly almost sleeping but every time I tried to do it, she was flying away that was causing other birds flying like crazy too. I wasn't helping her at all with this strategy so I decided to leave her along and pray that bleeding stops. It did stop some time later but now she has a good chunk of dry blood there that she is trying to clean with her beak so I am concerned it can start bleeding again.
I will try to catch her if she ever goes into the cage to eat and then will lock her up to rest (if lucky)
I can only say she is alive, seems to be a bit tired (no wonder) but still pretty alert about me coming close to check on her.
Any advise?
by the way, should I expect that her nail re-grows?

she is clearly uncomfortable stepping on that foot. Sitting with that foot up. Poor Stella. I will be able to take a better look in the evening when she gets into the cage so I can wrap her and hold her.

Stella is getting hard times getting around - she can't use affected foot very well. Is it common for a broken nail?
Could she also have her foot broken ?

I can see her eating but for some reasons she doesn't drink (At least I don't see it). She doesn't accept a drink when I offer it.
If I give her soaked millet spray, I am sure other birds will come there and she will have to leave.

It's possible that the toe is broken. But the toenail has a nerve in it, and a bird with a damaged toenail may act like it has a sore foot because of pain from the nerve in the toenail. You'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Hopefully you have managed to get her back in the cage by this time.

She got in the cage by herself as she always does (and everybody else) in the evening.
But Carolyn... were you working at the polls counting voices for the election this late?
(that's a topic for another thread. I can only say that I am overwhelmed with joy right now)

I think she should be fine. Yes, its just a nail that is missing completely. She still favors her affected foot but I see that she is hungry and see her eating often. Again, not sure if she drinks... Why would a bird not want to drink?
Do nails regrow?

No politics please, it's too hot of a topic for a bird forum.

Whether the nail grows back or not depends on how badly it was damaged. If the nail is completely missing it might not grow back.

It should be OK. You wouldn't want to use it as her drinking water all the time, but it's fine as a temporary "first aid" drink. I'm not sure that I see any sugar or salt in there, and it's desirable to have a little of those in a rehydration drink. They do have a function in the body. I assume the stevia leaf is a substitute for sugar but we want the real thing lol. If you wanted to add a very small amount of salt and sugar to this water it would be OK.
