I'm breaking out with acne and I have been wanting to use tea tree oil for it but I know it's toxic for birds. I can get away with it in the mornings because I apply it in a different room and go straight to work, but nights are a problem because we sleep in the same room together.

Is there a way I can go around this? Can I apply it and wait 1 hour for the smell to go away and then sleep?

sorry its not about tea tree oil.
Have you heard about Clarisonic? it's a device that as I heard makes a big difference with acne.

I have heard of it. I already have a face brush from Proactive. I feel like I've tried everything on the market, but my acne won't listen.

I heard that diet really matters too.
I heard that people had great skin results when they tested to see what food they are sensitive to and should avoid, and they excluded these food products.

If the smell is gone it won't be hazardous to Cheerio's lungs. Just don't let him lick your face!

Will do Jan!

I tried the tea tree oil, but it stinks so much! I cannot deal with that smell. I have heard of which hazel and rose water. I think I might have to make something myself because nothing is working anymore.

Chipper, I eat healthy, but I am lactose intolerant. They also say dairy causes acne. And I am guilty of indulging in diary. That could very well be the cause.

Small technical correction, the spelling is WITCH hazel. That might help you find information more easily. I've heard of it but don't know anything about it.

There's a product called Beano that's supposed to help break down lactose and prevent the gas that's caused by lactose intolerance. I have no idea whether it would also help with the acne problem, but if the witch hazel doesn't work it would be worth a try.

Haha. I did figure that out at the end. I had a feeling it was spelled that way.

Google told me that there's something in the milk that causes acne. It doesn't matter if you're sensitive to it or not. It doesn't matter because I was inspired to stop dairy. I already got almond milk and everything. I also made this acne treatment that supposedly is supposed to help. It's natural which is always a plus. Here's what's in it and the recipe for anyone: http://www.scratchmommy.com/diy-acne-fighting-toner/

I have one question: Is peppermint oil bad for birds? I love the smell of it. I would use some when trying to fall asleep if it's allowed.

Essential oils are potentially dangerous to birds because of their sensitive respiratory systems. I have an article that talks about it. Not peppermint oil specifically, but essential oils in general: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... erapy.html
