I read an article about bathing the birds with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar when it comes to mites. Could I use that for now? Or is it toxic?

Can you give a link to the article you are referring to?

The things that I would be concerned about with vinegar are whether the smell would be too powerful for a bird, and whether the acetic acid in the vinegar would irritate the birds' skin (especially the delicate skin of a baby). I don't know whether it would be effective against mites or not. Personally I would be more comfortable with the suggestions on the Just Cockatiels website. The webmaster there has raised thousands of babies, and she lives in Florida where there are major problems with mites. So she has experience with treatments that are safe and effective.
