I just made the whole wheat pancakes (using a box mix) and adding chopped zuccini and yellow squash. I thought they tasted good but wuold have liked them with just a little sweetner but Bitsy liked them and the tiels don't need the sugar. One cup mix made a lot. The next time I make them I wonder if I can substitute applesause for the oil?

Yes, you can absolutely substitute applesauce for the oil. But a little oil isn't such a bad thing when they're breeding - both the parents and the babies are burning a lot of calories.
