Peach loves my Aloe. Maybe you could go to a nursery though to get your plant if you let your birds chew on it. Lowes and other places like that load the plants up on fertilizer prior to selling them so they look good but they're full of chemicals when you bring them home. They also tend to be full of mites and other plant critters.

Be cautious with aloe. The outer skin of the plant has natural chemicals in it that can cause digestive upsets and other problems. The inner part is safer but too much isn't good. It's often suggested to use an aloe spray for dry skin, but I've heard that longterm use can have the opposite effect and make the skin dryer. It would be good to do some more research into dealing with dry skin in birds before you actually do something. I don't know a lot about the subject and don't have time to investigate it fully right now, so it's possible that this information could be wrong.

If you know someone who has an indoor pot plant of Aloe vera that could work for you...

How do you know that a bird has dry skin? After reading this thread I examined some of my guys' skin but I have no idea what to look for. Do they have scaly skin when it's too dry? Or maybe it's the colour a bit white in spots?

It looks so dry and irritated. Really flaky/dry looking. Like he is lacking moisture. He has been getting a bath every Monday for the past month. Sometimes twice a week. He has been losing less tiny down feathers since then.
