I had a bag of sunflower seeds in the cabinet that got contaminated by moth. IS there any way to revive the seeds? wash them?
2 others bags with other type of seeds were put in the freezer (same moth problem). Are they OK to use? The bags are resealable but the seal doesn't really close anymore. Have seeds absorbed moisture from the freezer so they are not good anymore?
A girl in the bird store told me that she sprouts her seeds for 5 days and she suggested that I do the same. She is wrong, right?

Honestly, I wouldn't risk it.

The moths won't actually harm the seed but the webs are pretty annoying. You can wash them with plain water if you want to, it won't harm the seed. You can sprout them if you want to as well, but personally I'd go for less than five days. There's less risk of bacteria and mold with a shorter sprouting period. Here's our article on sprouting: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... uting.html

I had a moth problem with my seed bags. I have a phobia from bugs so this was not an easy. I had to dump the bag of seeds that had moths and put the remaining seeds in sealed bags in the fridge. We don't have a moth problem anymore but I get moths outside that stay on the glass door which prevents me from going outside to the birds unless they are gone. Usually a sibling of mine kill them for me.

thank you,
I actually ... found a way to recycle my sprouted seeds (I know it sounds crazy)
After seeds being offered to my birds for maybe 3 hours, I take the bowl away, pour some cold water in, add a bit of vinegar and let it stand for a few minutes. Then drain, rinse, drain again, and it;s ready to be served again. There would be some hulls from the previous eating but I just stir the seeds and hulls are not a problem. This way I normally rotate 2 bowls during the day (seeds are keep being sprouted during this process), and get rid of them in the evening. The next morning another batch is ready.
