I make organic (Wild harvest) popcorn for my fids all the time. I air pop it in air popper that is free of Teflon. no oil or salt but a tiny pinch of cinnamon on it. Sweet pea loves it as did my other birds

Sorry for not replying back Carolyn. I completely forgot.

Thank you so much for those points you made. I showed it to my mom (who is a huge coconut oil fanatic) and she didn't want to believe it. I believe it though as you did make very valid points.

Janey'sbird, first, thank you very much for updating this thread. And second, can I be your bird? Popcorn and cinnamon? Count me in!

ok, I am a person who doesn't consume any popcorn and doesn't know much about it (believe it or not)

What is the simplest way to make healthy popcorn for my flock? particular brands or exact directions to where to find it in stores are very appreciated.

You can buy plain popcorn kernels, put it in a paper bag, tie it by twisting the top, and microwave it.

а stupid question - where do I buy plain popcorn kernels ("in the store" is a bad answer LOL)
Are they pre-packed, in a bag of any kind? in bulk?
for how long do I pop it in a microwave?

You'll find plain popcorn kernels at the grocery store, and many stores have it next to the microwave popcorn for humans (don't use this kind because there's lots of oil, salt, and other stuff on it). The plain popcorn is usually in a clear plastic bag, and will look similar to this:

There are two kinds, white and yellow. It doesn't matter which kind you get because there isn't a major difference between them. I like the yellow popcorn better but that's just my personal taste.

I got my popcorn kernels in a little plastic jar. It was cute. Any form of packaging will be ok as long as it doesn't have the things that were mentioned above.

I don't think I have a preference between white and yellow. They've always tasted the same to me.

I've never seen the white type here in UK. We only have bags of the yellow type, at least in my region - maybe in London you can find both types. I used to have a small pop corn maker, you'd put the kernels in, switch it on, and see the population corns coming up. The best thing was that I didn't need to add any oil or butter.

Now I use a pot with a lil to of oil in the bottom, but the results are enormously inferior!

BTW every time I hear the word superfood all my diffidence comes out. There are some very common things that in my opinion are the real deal, all the rest is usually a fad to entice people to part from large chunks of their own money... Yes I'm an old cynical woman lol
