:plumhead2: Mango eats a Cockatiel seed mix and fresh veg and fruit but I would like him to eat pellets.I gave him some before and he didn't touch them so how can I get him to eat them? I have tried mixing them with seeds too.

Does he take treats from your hand? If so, give him familiar treats from your hand and slip him a pellet every now and then. That's how I taught my birds to start eating them. At first they'd spit the pellet out and give me a disgusted look, but they eventually started eating them.

There are more hints here: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... rsion.html

That's a great way to do it - experiment with different presentation techniques until you find one that he likes. Sometimes birds reject one presentation style at first but accept it later, so you can also keep trying the ones he didn't like the first time.

I think it depends on what they recognize as food, which is crucial when the bird is being weaned. When Alex was still being fed, I put him in front of the pellet bowl, and he would stick his face into the pellets (literally). Now, he eats more pellets than seeds. I see him eat seeds every once in a while, but he acts like he doesn't like them. and he knows they're food. I guess he's just weird.

The breeder I got Alex from gave me the fruit blend as well, but he did better with the natural cockatiel diet. Cockatiels aren't as into fruit as other parrots, so it makes sense. But if Mango likes fruit, then it's possible he might like them instead. Only problem is, I'm not sure if they're sold in Ireland.
