I use Nutria berries as forging treats. what I do is this. 2 large coffee filters 2 berries and some raffia. place the 2 berries in the center of the double filter, tightly roll the coffee filter and tie right behind the berries with a strip raffia. you can place them in between the bars of the cage and flare the filter outside of the cage to keep in place.

I haven't heard of it before, but it just sounds like a lot of other people's chop mixes. I feed a chop mix myself but I do not feed pellets. I feed as much variety as I can and my birds do get seeds. Works fine for me. My birds are outdoors though so are using more energy for flying, keeping warm etc.
