You are right. I can't imagine trying to catch Cloudia for an hour. I think that's going to attack me. I can barely hold the towel she is in I get scared. She is not any ordinary bird. She is a monster lol
I can try and take a video of what Cloudia does when I towel her.

If it's after dark when you're trying to catch her you can use the darkness to your advantage. Put all the other birds away then turn the lights off. Wait about 15-30 minutes for her to settle down and get sleepy, then flip the lights on and grab her before she's had time to wake up fully.
You could even try grabbing her in the dark right after you've turned the light off, but someone needs to be able to flip the light on right away if she flies. Some birds won't try to fly in the dark if they're fully awake and know that it's just you. I have a couple of naughty chicks right now who go in the cage this way at bedtime. You don't want to grab her in the dark when she's sleepy because that's going to make her panic thinking you're a predator.

I am so scared of night frights, I always leave a little light on since last year. So I forgot the darkness noises the birds do. Last night I tried the darkness + sleepiness trick you were describing. Turned off the light completely with only Claudia out. Immediately a chorus of hissing started, and after a few minutes the gumming started... You could hear them all grinding their beaks. I just love these guys, they are so sweet! Anyway I waited a few minutes then turned on the light, being very close to where Claudia was, hoping to get her... She took off like a rocket lol Unfortunately she does fly in the dark so I can't catch her like that either... I will have to just tire her down until someone takes pity of me and finds her a good aviary.

I would love to take her. But unfortunately, we live far from each other.

Claudia sounds a bit like my Emma. She will fly in the dark to avoid capture. Things have been much better since I had her clipped.

I know you're opposed to clipping Barbara but it IS an option that would make it a lot easier on both of you at bedtime. Even if it was just a partial clip so she could still fly, she'd have to work harder and would get tired faster. It's not beneficial to her to be chased around for an hour every night, and it's not beneficial to you to have to do it.

Trust me, a light clip will still give them ability to fly, just not for an hour. Even with medium clip, Cloudia acts like she can fly.

P.s. Clipping is a very hot topic on most forums. I am not telling you to clip your bird. I'm just trying to add on to Carolyn. We are just giving advise. Not forcing you.

I clip my P'lets as I get very painful gout in my fingers and knuckles... it makes it easier for me to handle them.. sometimes it makes life easy for you and less stressful for the birds... it;s worth a try... the feathers don't take long to regrow if only done lightly.. could be the answer to your problems with her... give it a try... it very often makes a nasty bird pleasant.
