Some of you may remember how difficult it's been to tame Emma, and how she will only come onto my arm to get a sunflower seed, then fly right off again. So I've had her for ten months, and she's still not hand tame.
For the last couple of weeks, in the afternoons, I've been playing my dulcimer in my study.
Silver would call for me after a while. I'd go get him and put him on my shoulder. He'd come back to the study with me, but not want to stay that long. But, every day it was a little longer.
So, today Silver and I were in the study. I heard Emma fly off the cage top and start flock calling. We went to get her, and she had gotten into the dining room on the floor. So, I picked her up on my wrist, and she climbed to my left shoulder.
Then, I walked through the living room, Right Past the Flight Cage, and went into my study. When I got there, both Silver and Emma were still on my shoulders!
I started playing my dulcimer, and they stayed in there with me for about ten minutes. Silver spent most of the time whistling along, while Emma sat on the back of my other shoulder.
The amazing thing is that this was a sudden, huge jump for Emma. I had been sensing some slight change in her attitude toward me lately, but nothing like this.
