I made a switch in the night arrangements because, of the three hens I have, Trilly is the only one bonded with another male (Frank), so I don't want to create conflicts between the two boys.

I moved Bubu with Frank and Trilly, they all three got perfectly fine, and put Darcy with sweet Angelina.
They used to sleep in the same cage a while ago but I split them up because, while she was crazy about him, he would chase her. She is a feisty little lady and won't take abuse, but I didn't see the point in keeping them together if he was being such a jerk with her.

Tonight was all a different story. They didn't kiss and make up but they got on their own perch and all was good. I kept checking but all was quiet and still is.

Tomorrow is the big day because I am going to put the new cage together.
The mesh is 48" wide so I was planning to make the cage 48" x 48" x 24", and I would like your opinion on whether it is large enough.
I am planning to put Darcy, Angelina and maybe Sesamo too in it during the day, while I keep the other birds in the other room with me.
Then let them out at dinner time for a bit of fly and flock time. all together or maybe still keeping Bubu invisible to Darcy's eyes.

IF he is going to switch his interest to another bird, do any of you have a rough idea of how long will that take to happen? I already know it's a dumb question and it varies from bird to bird, but if you had an experience of splitting and forming couples I'd like to know how long it took.

Baruch, you are forever forming and reforming couples within your flock; what is your secret? :)

I don't have a secret because my birds refuse to change their allegiance. There are a few relationships that I'd like to break up but I'm getting no cooperation. You'll get no advice from me on how long it takes because I have no idea.

Your cage size sounds great, it's more than big enough for 2 or 3 cockatiels, and big enough for a pair to raise babies in if things go that way. Better plan for a nestbox door lol.

I don't have a secret L  L
They are just very hormonal and they will mate with anyone there is just to have eggs.
It took Georgie and Bio 1 week to get over Quinn and find a new girl to bother
Georgie's new girlfriends are Marshmallow and Cloudia
Bio's new girlfriend is Marshmallow
Cloudia likes Moon and Shodu, but she likes Shodu more but Shodu doesn't know how to mate. Like Vlad
And there is my flocks never ending love story

Sorry Barbra for not getting back to you sooner the answer is yes it sounds a good idea. I have had a few problems over the last few weeks and dealing with an incident at a bird show where quite a few birds died will hope to spend a little more time on this sight shortly

I'm glad you were able to come back but I'm sorry about the reasons that kept you away. What happened at the bird show? I help to organize bird fairs here in Tucson so this incident sounds pretty scary to me.

It is horrible. I read Michael's post a few days ago and at the time they weren't still able to determine what caused it.
If you want to read the post it's here

http://www.theparrotclub.co.uk/topic/9312-tragedy-at-the-bird-show-today/

I haven't been able to find any news about it, will look again now. Basically they don't know what has caused the deaths. Horrible :(

I read the thread, and they think the cause might be Teflon in the kitchen or some other type of fumes. I'm glad I heard about this, because we just got a new venue for our bird mart and there's a kitchen on the premises. I'm going to tell the club president that we need to watch out for possible problems.
