Do you have another cage? If you do, you can keep them in separate cages. Some birds don't like to be too close together or too far apart, and separate cages will make them happy.

Which bird is attacking the other one? Wild birds will often try to chase a sick bird away from the rest of the flock. If the healthy bird is attacking the one that might be sick, this might be the reason for the problem.

If you don't have another cage, you can make a temporary holding container by punching air holes in a cardboard box and letting one bird spend some time in there taking a nap. If you do this with the most aggressive bird, maybe this time-out will improve their mood! If you do it with the bird that might be sick, it might be good for her to get some rest.

So usually it's Kaylee who keeps fighting with Sunshine but sometimes Sunshine will fight back. I'm still trying to figure out if Sunshine is sick.

Since the budgie that's being attacked is the one that might be sick, it's best to keep them in separate cages for now if you can. If she actually is sick, the stress of being attacked isn't good for her.

It's possible that these attacks are related to breeding hormones. It's spring, and birds usually consider the cage to be their territory and a potential nest area, and maybe Kaylee wants the cage to herself because of this. There are hormone control techniques that can help reduce breeding urges, but it takes a week or so for it to kick in: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... mones.html

But is it possible for a female to lay eggs without a mate? If so then OMG But I'll try to get another cage for one of them but who should keep the old cage? Sunshine ( might be sick and I don't want to stress her out being moved) or Kaylee ( she likes the swing perch)

Yes, a hen can lay eggs without a mate, but the eggs of a single hen will be infertile because you do need a male to fertilize the eggs. So there's no risk of actually having babies, but the risk of egg binding is still there. Some hens won't lay eggs unless they have a mate and a proper nest, and others will lay eggs no matter what.

My suggestion would be to move the aggressive one. She'll feel a little bit insecure for a while, which will help reduce the aggression and any breeding hormones that she has going.

It's possible to buy stacking cages, but then the birds won't be able to see each other when they're in the cage.

Cool! But where do you get them? Or should I just get another cage and put it on top of the other?
