I had that same problem with my budgies. If you seperate them, most likely, they will scream loudly trying to comminicate with each other. I had success with training them TOGETHER. Try giving them millet, or another favorite treat, to encourage them to spend time with you. My budgies often wanted to return to their cage, so i took them to another room while training them.

Oh no, I'm so sorry that Poppy was acting like he ot wanted to be with Speck. I know exactly how you feel. I felt like that when Juno and Willow were skittish, but I got used to it and Juno stepped up on my hand many times. But there had to be millet.
Pop tart will probably go back to you since he is all by himself now
