Can anyone give me tips on how to train my baby to fly to me on demand?

Thanks!

There is a very good video on YouTube, a young girl is teaching her bird to do that, and she has amazing results after about 40 minutes, if I remember correctly... I tried to find it for you but I couldn't, weird because I had it on my favourites :(
Maybe someone else remembers how it's called. I will try again.

I still can't find it but you can teach Big Eagle, useless but very cute :D

This is usually called recall training. You can start out by luring the bird to you with a lovely treat and gradually extend the distance. Then work on getting the bird to fly to you without actually seeing the treat.

@ Barabra
Thank you Barabra. I think I would beneft from watching this video. Are cockatiels smart enough for the eagle trick? I mean, my other birds would probably just back up.

@Carolyn
Since my baby isn't weaned, I guess I'm going to have to think of something else.

@Jan

I'm sorry you didn't have any success.......my birds would probably do that too....

Hey, cockatiels are VERY smart! :D
I know of other tiels who gave learned the same trick, so it's definitely doable; that video's teaching system seems clever, but I have never heard of it before.
I read some time ago that they learn when they see you "flapping" your arms as if they were wings. I have tried to convince mines that way with no success at all... They think I'm a lunatic, that's all they learned :lol:
