My birdies were having out of cage time this morning.

So, I'm sitting in my chair. The birds are across the room on top of the cage. I called Emma a couple of times, and she looked at me. I took the plastic container of sunflower seeds I keep by my chair and shook it. She flew over to the laptop; I held out my hand, and she jumped on. I gave her her seed. Then, I sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. And, she stayed through the whole song, and for a bit afterwards while I told her how pretty she is. Yay Emma!

Great news! I bet she got to eat some of those sunflower seeds while she was with you too. She's learning that good things happen when you're around.

Reading this original message makes me a little sad. Emma is so far from getting back to anything like this right now.

On the other hand, it shows what was possible, and may still be possible if I keep at training every day.

I know that I felt clipping was the best thing to do at the time (and still feel it may have been necessary).

I can now only rarely get her to come to my arm for a seed even if I am right by the cage.

But, I keep trying, every day.

I do feel all my birds are happy, healthy and enjoying life. The other three are very willing to come to me.

Emma sees them come and get treats. However, she seems to have an approach/avoidance conflict going on. I see her body language expressing this conflict when I offer her seed with my arm to perch on.Sometimes I give her a seed just for being nearby, or for reaching over my arm, without actually touching it.

I will keep you posted. I am hopeful things will get better.

I'm sorry taming isn't going well for you guys. I hope you can unlock her fear from opening up.

Just keep working with what you've got. Reward her for anything that's remotely in the neighborhood of what you want her to do, and work on gradually making progress from that point.
