As you all know I am not a budgie woman, but this week from today I am birdsitting one, a little really gorgeous little boy. He is not friendly, doesn't bite or anything just shies away.
I was wondering what to do in this week to make him like humans a little bit or if not like them at least be a little bit more interested or interactive. He sits in his cage on his own and basically does nothing. Is there anything I can put in his cage that he will like very much?
Any suggestion very much appreciated, I will post a pic of him because he's really pretty! He has a Poppyness about him, and I think he's more or less same age, maybe slightly older.

You could try spray millet.
They really love bells--just not jingle bells, which are dangerous for them.

I want to see Poppy Junior!

I just do the same. Food. Just take away his food an hour before and offer him some millet. Then lure him back into his cage with his food bowl with fruit and vegetables in it (if you even want him in there).

I'm not a big budgie fan myself, because of how timid they are, but I do love my budgie boys. But because they are timid, there really isn't a crash course.

BUT, I will tell you a secret of mine... treat him like he is a lion. Don't make eye contact because you fear he will charge and attack you. Move slowly so you don't trigger an attack response. Slowly deliver food, water and millet so he doesn't take your hand off. Of course, he isn't a lion, but I noticed it works with mine. Seem aloof and somewhat unfocused on them. Move slowly and carefully around the lion exhibit. I know it sounds silly, but it works for me. Your objective is to tame and feed the lion, and walk out unharmed.

Your description is priceless!
Sadly I have been told not to let him out because he's extremely quick and impossible to catch again, and there are two cats very much interested in him in the house.
Poor little one, but he will be put with other budgies soon, possibly in an aviary since he's so not interested in humans.
I brought some little toys, some of that straw ribbon they like to shred in pieces, and just observe him. He is so so cute!
If I feel brave I will bring his cage in the bathroom (easier to catch him if he escapes) and try your strategy.
Photo tonight, if my mobile decides to work. Usually Instagram camera works better than the normal one.

I don't see Poppy. I see Jail Bird. He looks so much like her, just with lighter wings. Can you take a close picture of his cere?
