My brother and I had been sitting in the dining room for quite a while. The birds were in the living room, on top of their cage.
Piper (my budgie) flew our the dining room, flew around it, back out to the living room, then back to the dining room and around it twice, then back to the living room.
When I went out, the lighting was very dim, because evening was coming on. I turned on a light and found Piper on top of a picture frame. I asked him to step onto my finger, and HE DID!
I took him back to the cage, expecting him to jump back onto it, but he just sat on my finger, looking at me, then started preening himself. He stayed for several minutes, just as calm as could be.
Then, my brother and I sat in the living room chairs. All three birds flew over to me, perching on my arms and shoulders. They were very interested in what I had to say to them, and stayed for a long time. I gave them a few sunflower seeds, but they stayed way beyond when there were treats to be had.
This isn't unusual for Silver, but it is for Emma and especially for Piper.
It felt like the whole flock dynamic suddenly changed.
I think that when my brother comes over they are impressed that he is so interested in me, and it makes them interested too.
I also thought that Piper may have come out to the dining room to get me.
I have read so many times that you have to be patient, go at the bird's pace, and give treats. For a long time, I thought Piper was never going to be interested in me. But, there you go!
