For a while now, Emma has been flying over and perching on the back of my chair. But, tonight she was sitting there, she chirped, I twisted my neck around to look at her, and she began giving herself a meticulous, all over grooming.

I think it's so significant that she feels safe enough that she knows I'm looking at her, and she's really really close to me, but she's able to totally take her eyes off of me, for an extended period.

That's great! I love when the timid ones trust you. My nutty lovebird Teak would never step up anywhere, but he loved to sit next to me and sit on my head. He could be up there for hours. Poppy (who I like to believe is Teak reincarnated) now will greet me with little butterfly kisses on my nose when I walk up to their cage. It's an amazing feeling.

Thats exactly how i feel with my Cloudia! As much as she hisses at me and screams and flies away when i get near her, it was a really comforting feeling when she slept while i was near her today.

I'm so happy for you. It is so wonderful when our birdies start to realized that we just want to love them.

That's great, Dianne.
I agree it's a good feeling when they start to get closer to you. The boy I got, Bimbo, the one who spent all his day looking at his little mirror, is now a lot more interested in the world around him, and two days ago he started sitting next to me. He's still incredibly tense but at least he's trying!

I think that's an interesting way to look at it: ". . . he's trying."

I think Emma is trying. Piper has also been lingering on my finger a little longer after eating his seed from me.

Silver remains so lovable and sweet! I am SO attached to him.
