I've had the birdies on fourteen hour nights for about ten days now. The difference is amazing!

- Emma stopped at 3 eggs.
- Piper and Emma have stopped mating
- Piper has stopped chasing Silver

Should I keep them on this regimen indefinitely?

It's up to you. You could back off to 12 hours and see if they stay non-hormonal. If they don't then just go back to longer nights. The long nights treatment really does rock.

I'm glad there has been improvement!

That's great news Dianne! The 14 hours has been an almost constant regimen here, and apart from Trilly who is immune to ANYTHING I don't think I could cope without it, with 12 birds.

Wow Dianne, that is great. I have been back and forth about getting another bird. I have a big cage and only one female. I'd love to have a male. She is 18 months old now. I wonder if it would be too late to add a second bird to her cage at this point??

I don't think so Steph. Beaker was 6 years old when I introduced 3 month Jaid to him.

Jaid is a cock. No breeding problems here.

But I believe so.

If you get a companion for Peaches, it would best to have a second cage. That would be for the quarantine period and for a time to get them used to each other. I wouldn't just move a second bird into the first bird's cage. I'd house them separately but in the same room and see if they end up in one cage together.
