Delightful Silver is getting a bit rambunctious.

He just won't leave my keyboard alone! I can't allow him to take all the keys off it :-(. I tried putting the big playgym next to where I am typing and repeatedly taking him off the keyboard and putting him there, but he just keeps coming back.

Also, today it as very hard to get him back into the cage. He was playing major "catch me if you can." He has never been that way before.

Any suggestions?

Hang some millet spray on the play stand or provide something else that's more interesting than the keyboard.

Someone here suggested one of those plastic keyboard covers, have you tried that? As for the "catch me if you can", if he keeps it up for a week or whatever, maybe a light clip so he is easier to catch and therefore will remove the "fun" from the game?

Just off the top of my head suggestions, not sure if they're helpful or not.

Funny enough, Coyote is doing the keyboard thing right now. For me, often what works is distracting him with something else and if that doesn't work, I make life very annoying for him. So just now, since he wouldn't stop, I made him step up from one index finger to the next (which he hates, for whatever reason) until he yelled and scrambled up my shoulder. If, for whatever reason, I can't do the annoy him thing, I just plunk him in his cage for a while. If he ever starts up with the "catch me if you can" game, he'd have to get a fresh clip immediately because with my cat and dog and whatnot, it's just too unsafe for me to not be able to immediately get him under control.

I have been thinking about a light clip.
I have reservations about the millet, because this may well come up every day. Won't I be over feeding him?

When my birds get millet or some other special food, they'll usually eat less of something else later on so their total calories for the day stay about the same. I haven't had any problems with them gaining weight from snacking on millet.

Why not just put him in his cage for a while and let him watch you on the keyboard...
Birds are like naughty children on times, they like to get away with murder...LOL

Yes! He is like a two-year-old.

Maybe that's why "bird" rhymes with "turd". Because... you know... they totally are sometimes! ha

Silver is spending more time on his play stand.
I covered the whole top of the keyboard with a sheet of plastic drop cloth, wrapped around and taped to the bottom of the keyboard. This is a laptop--in case that's not clear. So far we're pretty good with that problem, so far. It does make it a little bit harder to type, though.

I have a new trick for getting him into the cage. I discovered that the feed cup will hook onto the inside of the cage door. So, I make sure he's hungry before I want him to go in. Then, I make a big fuss about filling up the seed cup while he's on my shoulder, hook it onto the inside of the door, put him on it, and gently close the door.

Don't get me started on the keyboard thing. Jaiden popped off the F3 key yesterday and it won't stick back on.
