How can I teach Rocko and Loki to lay on their back? Rocko now lets me grab him and Loki is comfortable being touched anywhere but the head she dosent let anybody pet her on the head like I do with Rocko he loves scratches.

Rocko has potential to be one of those birds that can be flipped, but don't hold your breath. If that's the case, you would start by holding him and gently laying him back in your hand while still holding him.

It isn't natural for cockatiels to lie on their backs so it would be difficult to teach them this behavior. A lot of parrot species naturally lie on their backs as babies and are even fed in that position, so it's normal for them and it's fairly easy to train them to lie in your hand.

But any time you see a cockatiel chick lying on its back it means that something is wrong, and they can't be fed in that position either. Adults never lie on their backs naturally either, and to train them to do it you'd have to go against their natural instinct to be upright all the time. It's probably not impossible to do it, but it would be harder than teaching something that isn't contrary to their instincts.

He would probably bite me if I flipped him I think it would be much easier with Loki.
