I saw on a documentary Parrot confidential that mother parrots teach their chicks Language but I was thinking since some birds like Tiko were hand reared they wouldnt have learned language from their mother but from their human owner like Tiko dosent make any African grey noises only human noises.Just yesterday when Tiko went to get her nails trimmed there was another African grey named coco we know coco a long time I was scratching his head and he loves scratches and then he tried to bite me and started laughing (A human laugh) thats when I started thinking maybe parrots dont just mimic they understand human speech and when you leave him he says bye and hi when he sees you nobody taught him that be he learned it himself from hearing other people like a baby learning to talk and thats what im trying to say you can teach them how to talk as you would a baby instead of just trying to teach them to say a word show them what it means.

Your right in what you say....
Zippi my Tiel who died, talked really well,
he use to hold a small conversation with us...
Also when the phone rang, he'd say Hello... before us!
When I had cold callers, I use to put the phone on-top of his cage and he'd talk away to who ever... it wasn't always sense, but he did it...

Indeed. Parrots will learn the speech and noises from who they view as "family". That's why hand reared birds have a better time learning the speech, than others. It still all depends on the individual, as well, though.

Sometimes, if parrots have been raised around different species, they'll also pick up on the sounds said species. I once saw a Senegal parrot make cockatiel sounds, before.

I'm an even tie between birds and reptiles. I like horses too.

There's no doubt that parrots can understand our language to some degree. The studies with Alex the grey proved that! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_%28parrot%29
