Here's another possibility that I just thought of. Singing is courtship behavior, and successful courtship leads to mating. The first step in mating (literally) is for the male to lift up one foot and put it on the hen's back. So there might be a little wishful thinking going on here lol.

That would probably be in Luke's case, since he seemed really attracted to Pecky.

But Beaker's also lowering his head to his foot, for whatever reason. He could be emphasizing that he wants to mate, by trying to make whoever's watching, look at his foot.

Either that, or he REALLY loves his feet.

Bowing the head is part of the cockatiel song and dance routine so it all fits.

Buster and Shodu had the world's shortest courtship. Buster had been courting Mims with the full song and dance routine, and she was receptive. But he was a first-timer, and when he tried to climb on her back he fell off. Twice. I think maybe this gave him performance anxiety lol, because one day he looked at Shodu, gave a tiny little chirp and a very slight nod of the head, and it was ON. Five seconds later they were mating, with no other preliminaries. I'd never seen him pay any attention to Shodu prior to this, but they've been faithful to each other ever since.

 Poor Buster can't seem to catch a break. At least Shodu seems patient with him.

I think he caught a big break when Shodu accepted him after a half-second courtship lol. And maybe a bigger one when he didn't fall off of her. Maybe Shodu isn't as slippery as Mims.

Yeah probably. I would've figured Shodu would give him a hard time, like she does her son who keeps trying to court her (which one was that again? Squeebis?)

Lucy:"Hey dad? How come out of all the hens you live with, you chose my mom?"
Buster:"It's a long story..." (Not really long, more so embarrassing)

Well, I've just heard Lucy start chatting it up. It was for a very brief moment though. If she does it any more, I'll try to get footage of it. It's so cute, and funny sounding.

It's Henry who wants to marry his mother. I should have named him Oedipus Rex instead of Henry VIII.

Squeebis is only interested in his sister Teela. When it comes to romance, the cockatiel motto is "incest is best". I have some lovely unrelated hens who would be great mates for these naughty boys, but they're only interested in their immediate family members.

They ARE disgusting, aren't they? That's why I love them so much.
