Since I had the tiels clipped, Silver is much more reluctant to come onto my hand. I think it is because I often want to take him to another location to interact with him, but he wants to stay near Emma.

Did you get Emma clipped? I had much success by following the food bribery and taming step by step article after clipping my birds wings. Wishing much success!

Yes. Emma was clipped at the same time as Silver.

Birds that are bonded to each other usually don't want to be separated, and the male is usually more reluctant to leave than the female. I know it's a problem getting Emma to cooperate, but it might work better if you could manage to pick him up first then pick her up too, then take both of them somewhere else together. Is Emma willing to step up on a perch that you're holding in your hand? If so, you could have Silver step up on one hand then get her with the perch in your other hand.

I think that is a good suggestion. I am going to start working on it, slowly but regularly, tomorrow

There might be a small improvement in Emma. I haven't been bothering her at all about stepping up. I've just gone over to the playarea and talked to her. I even keep my hands behind my back. She's been coming closer to me. Then, tonight I was giving out sunflower seeds and I saw her come as close to me as she could to be sure she got hers.

I've also been noticing that Piper seems to be interested in me. I've been spending time over at the budgie cage just talking to him. Sometimes, I think he might like to get out of the cage and get closer to me.

Sometimes it takes forever for them to finally feel alright with you, but once they do, it's totally worth it.

I've heard stories of birds hating people for years, then they just ask for scritches out of nowhere.

Keep up with the training. It can take some time to see some major results.

In another post I mentioned that I rearranged my living room so the tiel cage is next to my chair. Both tiels have become more relaxed with me since I made the change. Silver is happy that he can sit on my shoulder and still be close to Emma. And, Big News, Emma came to my arm twice for a sunflower seed. This is the first time since she was clipped about 2 or 3 months ago.

I now can't understand why I didn't think of this sooner.

Oh, I just remembered. It was because the tiels, especially Silver, were walking on my laptop and removing the keys. I just couldn't get them to stop :-(.

So far, they haven't gone back to stealing the keys.

Don't be surprised if they rediscover the joy of key-stealing lol. Putting a clear plastic cover over the keys is one solution if they start causing problems again.
