Thank you so much, Stephanie. I'm not thinking of getting other species at the moment. The only type of bird that I would get is a POW but they are so expensive. $300 for an adult, aggressive, and untame male. That was the only POW they had. I am more into cockatiels. The same store had so many cute baby cockatiels.

I'm impressed with the job he did on the floor - it's snazzy looking and it looks like it will be easy maintenance too. Maybe sweep first then squirt with a hose. He did a beautiful job of making the wall beams fit into the floor, and it looks like you can replace them if you need to.

Thanks! I am a little worried because the aviary is really tall. How can I catch the birds when I need to do a deep cleaning in the aviary?

It's hard to take pictures of it since it's so big and not enough room to go back.

Looks like it could be a tiny house in progress. Cloudia and the crew will fit in nicely.

What does POW stand for?

Thanks guys! POW stands for Princess Of Wales parrot. They are the only species from parrots I heard that gets along with cockatiel.

Also guys, this picture makes the aviary look ugly. It was turning dark so I quickly took a picture and posted it. It looks much nicer. Here is a photo of the roof Image

I think I need some time to get used to it.

I think the picture makes the aviary look fabulous! You expect to see raw wood with a building under construction, and it's also normal to have raw wood in a completed aviary because of toxicity issues if you start getting fancy with paint.

Any big hardware store will have wooden dowels that are about three feet long and come in a variety of widths. Get one of these in the 5/8" width, that's the standard diameter for a cockatiel perch. They're VERY handy for getting birds down from high places, and I keep several of them scattered through the house in places where I'm likely to need them. I keep mine flat on the floor at the bottom of a wall, but it would be easy to devise a way to hang one on a hook or something against the wall in the aviary so it would be out of the way when you don't need it and easy to grab when you do need it.
