I give my birds clean paper in their cage once a week.
Once a month though, I scrub the bars, clean out their water bottles and food dishes and rearrange the toys in their cage.

It varies according to the number of birds I have at the moment. When there are a lot of chicks in the house there's a lot more mess! I change the papers at least once a week when the number of birds is low and more like 3 times a week when it's high. Cage washing is usually once a month, but when there are babies in the nest I actually do it less than that because it would be too disruptive.

The big cage is the best one for breeding so it just has to stay dirty for a while. I do take off the easily removed parts and wash them and I can hit some dirt spots on the cage with a washcloth, but washing the whole cage is out of the question when there are babies in the nest.

Oh cool.
I don't know too much about chicks because I've never bred any of my birds and don't intend to.

I didn't intend to either, but cockatiels frequently have their own ideas about it.

It might have worked out better if your males had mated with the female instead of each other!
