Hey everyone. I am thinking what i should do to the perches in my aviary. I could either make it colored with vet wrap, or i can leave it to look natural. In YOUR opinion, what do you think I should do? The poll will be anonymous so don't worry. Feel free to say you full honest opinion, i won't get offended, it will help me make something more nice for the new aviary.

Thank you all for your votes. Since most voted for natural, I'm going natural! I just bought 6 dowel perches around 5 feet to add in the aviary. Maybe I can do both natural and colored. Or maybe I'll just go with natural.

I had been thinking you could both, and would have voted that way if it was an option.

Okay. I feel like that's a great idea. I don't want the cage to look "artificial" but still want some colors so I will do both. I got some nicer colors yesterday. The aviary is nearly done. He just needs to make a door, a system that will make the aviary not cold during winter, and finish the tile. If he's done by today, I will decorate it tomorrow morning and put in the birds. I HOPE he will be done by tonight.

I'm curious - what's your temperature-control plan for the winter?

He is going to make something like blinds but with tarp and it's going to be on all 4 sides of the aviary. Is that good enough?

That will keep the wind out, but if it's too dark inside in the daytime they might sleep instead of eating. But you rarely get freezing weather in Florida and birds that are acclimated to the outdoors will be OK in most weather. If you're going to have an exceptionally cold night it might be a good idea to bring them inside the house. If you could have something like a heat lamp in there that would help provide warmth.
