yesterday tj found this bird store near his brewing supply store. it was a bird store, accounting lol. it was mostly a bird store you go in and theres bird toys, perches ect... everywhere. behind that is some birds for sale and his accounting desks. off to the side is a hall and you go down the hall and there is like 50 bird cages some empty some not. and a huge cage in the center of the room size of my living room. for the larger birds to play in during the day becuse she also does rescue and boarding. she had a tv on for the birds. but they had the most friendly caique he is 5 months old and loves to be scratched once you spend a few minutes with him cuse he is shy at first. he is molting right now. cant afford him right now but it defantly confimed the fact i want one of these birds. tho he is 1300.00 but not worried about the bird yet need supplies first.

It sounds like a lovely store, but yikes! don't caiques usually cost less than that?

The picture of the bird you posted (not sure how to spell the name) has a MASSIVE beak. They need to get him to a vet to get it trimmed. Overgrown beaks can be a sign of illness, or unhealthy diets. Poor bird.

I thought so at first too, but I looked at some caique pictures and it seems like they normally have a pretty long beak. This one is a little bit extra long, but the tip is flaking and will probably break off soon, leaving the beak a little shorter and basically normal. It's part of the normal "wearing down the beak" process.

Some species naturally have a longer beak than others, and the corella cockatoo in particular can have a very long beak. I've heard complaints from corella owners because their vet trimmed the bird's beak thinking it was too long when actually it was normal. Not all of them have a beak as long as this guy, but this isn't unusual:

Wow. I'd name that corella "Squidward" but I think it's obvious I have a horrible track record for pet names.
