I recommend a natural wood stand. I cannot speak highly about them enough.

The one here is very expensive, but you can make your own for hundreds of dollars cheaper. And it's fun too.

I have the Polly's Perfect Perch and it's great.

I also have a big manzanita play stand similar to the one that Stephanie showed, but I got it at the bird mart and it was a LOT cheaper - about $100 I think. I think the current price is still somewhere in that area, maybe $125. If you're handy with tools and can get hold of an appropriate tree branch, it would be simple and cheap to make your own. Mine is on rollers so it's easy to move around.

If you're still in Seattle they do have a bird expo there, but it's not until October: http://www.flight-club-foundation.org/s ... -expo.html

They do have vendors there, but it seems like they don't tell you about it until down at the bottom of the page where they mention their exhibitors hall.

They are pretty large, but they last a long time. And, if you are doing to be getting a high energy bird like a caique, I'm sure it will appreciate a big space to play on.

Fantastic for a lager bird...
All your birds can use that, you can hang stuff on it and make it into a really interesting play tree for all your birds.
Wish I'd invested in something like that, instead of a small play gym for my birds..
Forgot to say you can also put the tree in a large pot/bucket, so its not so big...weighed down with stones or sand etc. add a layer of soil and plant herbs for your birds to pick at! I've seen those tree made into a real eye catching item for the birds and home.

thous are pretty neat looking but i think some thing that might be over kill for one small bird. and it would be hard to store some thing like that till i actually got a bird. once i get a bird i can get some thing like that or make it because we live in a woodsy area we could make it for pretty cheap. i saw some one post the gym i choose on here in a diff thread. i live with my friends family now so cant take over the whole house like i did when i had my own apt. the gym i choose is perfect because i can move it back and forth from my room to living room. it has 2 levels so it will still provide good amount of space for high energy bird to play on. i can always upgrade to the tree one at some point ^_^ thanks for the advise.
