Has anybody used straw baskets of all available varieties for birds to chew? Or rather shallow dishes not to trigger nesting behavior... I'm tempted to get some at thrift store. Would keep them occupied for a looooong time

I have used straw baskets from the dollar store. The birds like them pretty well to chew on.

I have used old baskets from the florists. Ripped out the plastic that was stapled in (to keep the water in there for the plants). Made sure the staples were removed. They dismantled the basket right up to the base.

As for the swing, it looks very similar to one I have seen online for sale specifically for birds. Can't remember where I saw it. My guess is that if it is coated with a stain or polyurethane, etc then it would not be safe for a bird. Also, are there small nails, tacks or,staples holding it together or is is simply glued?
