I subscribed to this service, which sends toys in a box every month. I got the first box a couple of weeks ago.

I have to say, it has been a hit so far. Two of the toys I received this month were not ones I'd have picked out, but the birds love them. I am giving them a new toy a week.

It's nice because at times I have trouble focusing on making or buying something new for them, and I feel bad about it.

It sounds like fun! My experience with cockatiels is that they're not too keen on toys unless it's something they can tear up.

The toys they really liked are the tear-up kind. One of them has a bunch of small rubbery things that look like hedge hogs in different colors. They love chewing on them and tearing them. i was surprised that they liked these rubber things so much.

Just make sure they're only tearing them up not eating them!

Obi eats all the plastic, paper, threads...etc....
on these toys he nearly lost his
life threw it....
His toys are all wood no dangley things....

how much is the service? I love the idea!

Unless if that cockatiel Lucy. Toys she likes include:
- Colorful things
- shiny things
- easy to tear up
- durable but easy to pick up
- things she can drop
- things that hang in the cage that she can swing and throw around
- things that get her mind working (like simple foraging toys)
- things that fit in her beak
- things that don't exactly fit but she tries to chew on them anyway
- things that make noise such as bells
- basically everything. If it's not food meant for her to eat, then it's a toy meant for her to chew on and play with.



But as regards to the bird box... I do believe I've seen that before. to be honest I would love subscribing to that myself if I could. Especially because I don't always have time to make toys for them or go out and buy new ones.

I mean they already have quite a few toys in their cave, and they *still* play with the one where they had chewed all the Popsicle sticks off of and just to mess with the blue beads that were in between them.
But my birds are just too spoiled, I guess.

That sounds like a cool idea. I have seen a lot of services like this for dogs and a few for cats but none for birds as of yet!

Given my flock toys wouldn't last two minutes. I am constantly on the search for the hardest wooden toys. Alexandrine parakeets are incredibly strong birds and go through a foraging toy in a matter of minutes

I hear that simply buying a 2x4 and sawing it into blocks is a cheap and easy way to make toys for large destructive birds. For extra credit you can drill holes through the center of the blocks and string them on a chain.
